The Senior Special Assistant to Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, on Social Investment Programne, Mrs. Maryam Uwais, has faulted Mrs. Aisha Buhari claims that corruption may have taken over the scheme she piloted on behalf of the federal government.
Uwais said the president wife does not have adequate knowledge about the beneficiaries of the scheme, therefore may have spoken out of ignorance.
Appearing on local television, The Channels, Uwais disclosed that over 190,000 Nigerians are receiving stipends under the social investment scheme.
Aisha Buhari on Sunday had said the social investment programme do not achieve the set goals result.
She accused the managers of the scheme to have lied that 30,000 women from Adamawa benefited from it.
A claim Aisha has since dismissed as a lie.
The president wife pointed out that there is no place the scheme failed like Kano, despite the fact that the manager of the scheme is from Kano.
The president wife said, 30, 000 women in Adamawa were promised to be paid N10k each every month, a promise she said never happened.
Defending the scheme, Uwais said on the television programme, that the president wife spoke out of ignorance because she has no knowledge of what the real situation is.
Uwais pointed out that in Adamawa state where the president wife comes from, 12 local governments areas are benefitting from the scheme while more than 11,000 persons have been employed.
The presidential aide said, if the president wife would have seek knowledge on the scheme, she would have been better informed.
Uwais reminded the president wife that in Adamawa alone, more than 1,000 public primary schools are part of school feeding programme.
Worse still, Uwais could not deny Aisha claims that the managers of the scheme expended N16 million for mosquito net.
