2018 constituency project, 50% fund released to lawmakers, Shehu Sani lied

Mr. Shehu Sani, a Nigerian senator from Kaduna state claim that the Nigerian government has not released the fund to lawmakers to carry out constituency project is a lie

Tracka, a civic organization working to ensure quality delivery of government project had on Sunday asked Sani to give an update of the constituency projects he nominated in 2018.

“Dear Senator Shehu Sani, we are aware you nominated N380m zonal intervention projects in 2018 budget for Kaduna Central Senatorial District. What is the implementation status of these projects? Public funds must work for the people, Tracka tweeted.

Responding to Tracka, Sani tweeted, “No funds have been released to those responsible for the implementation of any of the project in the paper budget for the whole of 2018. Thank you”.

However, Mr. Boss Mustapha Secretary to the Government of the Federation has since shown Sani may have lied.

Mustapha, who met with Lawmakers on December 19th last year, said 50% of constituency project funds have been released to the lawmakers.

Mustapha met with both All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party Senators and House of Representatives members to appraise the presentation of the 2019 budget by Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigeria President.

Mustapha, addressing newsmen after the meeting said, part of the allocation appropriated for the National Assembly in the 2018 national budget had been released.

“I can assure you that for lawmakers’ constituency projects, at least 50 % has been released,” Mustapha disclosed.

Worse still, Shehu Sani has claimed no money has been released to any senator for constituency project.
