2019: PDP rejects Zakari appointment to head collation centre

The Nigeria main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the appointment of Amina Zakari as head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation center for the 2019 general elections.

The party  said Zaraki is Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the president relative, and accused INEC of trying to trigger electoral violence as a result of its action.

Zakari was appointed on Thursday to head the collation centre for this year general elections.

An action PDP has said it is a calculated attempt by INEC to rig the election in favour  of Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC

Mr.  Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the PDP presidential campaign, in a press conference at Abuja,  said his party has rejected Zakari appointment.

With Zakari serving as head of collation centre, there is no way the elections will be transparent, PDP added.

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization (PPCO) said Buhari  is Zakari uncle and can not be allowed to serve as head of collation centre in an election her uncle is contesting as a Candidate.

The appointment of Zakari shows APC desperation to win this year’s election,  PDP alleges.

“In appointing Mrs. Amina Zakari to head the collation of this Presidential election, Prof. Yakubu has confirmed that he has been compromised and that he has already succumbed to pressure by the Buhari Presidency and APC to open the way for the self-succession of President Buhari.

The party calls on his countrymen and the National Peace Committee to be aware that Zakari appointment is a clear invitation to political violence.

The PDP said,  the only way to guarantee peaceful polls is for INEC to immediately reverse Zakari appointment.
