Residents of the Karu area of Abuja are groaning over the high cost of bread, Media Advocacy West Africa Foundation has learned.
MAWA Foundation visit to the Karu area found that a loaf of bread sells between N800, N550, N450, and N300 depending on the quality and brand.
Mrs. Joy, a bread seller while peaking to MAWA at Karu site around about, explained that the price of bread has gone high as a result of the high cost of production.
Joy explained that wheat bread is now very expensive; pointing out that a loaf has since moved from N600 to N800.
Joy explained that many people have stopped the business of selling bread because of the high cost of the commodity with very minimal profits.
