Nigeria Boko Haram insurgents on Monday launched an attack on military base at Monguno, Borno state in the Northeast Nigeria killing five soldiers and setting the base on fire.
The insurgents from 12 of this month, have carried out series of attacks and the Monday incident is one of them.
The attack is said to have been launched at about 6:00pm local time.
Military sources told journalist that Boko Haram members invaded the Base heavily armed with over 30 utility vehicles.
The attackers set the base ablaze and carted away weapons, they disclosed.
“5 dead bodies of soldiers have been seen this morning and unverified number of soldiers are wounded, the military base was partially torch while arms and ammunition were carted away by the terrorists, the source say.
“They also stole an ambulance and foodstuff meant for troops,” a military source who confirmed the torching of the Base, he added.
