Again, Boko Haram Attacks communities, Burn Houses

Insurgent group operating in Nigeria has on Saturday carried out attacks in Mairari and Femari communities in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno setting residents houses ablaze.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the insurgents attacked the communities at about 8:30 p.m; killing persons, set houses ablaze and made away with food items.

Worse still, this happened 12 hours after insurgents killed over than 10 farmers and kidnapped others at Kuwa-Yangeya village on Maiduguri-Damboa Road on Saturday.

Mr. Goni Umar, a witness said the insurgents carried out the attacks in the communities using gun trucks and motorcycles. They moved away food items from shops before setting them on fire, he added.

Community residents fled into the bush while some ran to Maiduguri, “one person was killed by a stray bullet while trying to escape”. Goni said.

Mr. Bulama Biu, a brigadier general, and the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, confirmed the attack in a short message sent to NAN.

In the message, he said the army has kept the situation under the control and that the militants are on the run.
We have deployed troops since 8:45 pm to restore normalcy he said.
