The All Progressives Congress (APC) has countered the claim by Mr. Hamisu Wadume that he was given the sum of N13 million to work for the party in the 2019 General Election.
Countering the claim, the party said, it is only during the People Democratic Party (PDP) that thugs were empowered, denying their involvement in giving money to thugs.
APC reaction came as a result of Hamisu, a notorious kidnapper in Taraba state claim that he was given the sum of N13 million to work for the ruling party to enable them to win the 2019 General Election.
The notorious kidnapper said he made so much money during the 2019 election and he was able to build houses for people and purchase cars and motorcycles for some youth in his community at Ibi area of Taraba state.
Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC spokesman, in a statement on Saturday, denying Hamisu claim, said his party never budgeted any money for thugs, accusing the PDP of empowering thugs, pointing that the practice ended as soon as PDP was voted out of the office.
“It is expected that the alleged kidnapper, having come face to face with justice, would throw whatever he could lay his hands on into the fray,” he said.
“In any case, our party did not have a budget for thugs. Unlike the period when the ruling party dipped hands into the public treasury to fund political campaigns and elections, APC had to rely on its resources. Even if we had all the money, we would never allocate money for kidnappers and murderers. That era ended with PDP.
“Perhaps, he can name whoever gave him money. It was not APC. From his purported confession, he claimed to be a PDP member before he went on to contest under another party.”
