The kogi state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has suspended Mr. Simon Achuba, the state Deputy Governor.
Mr. Abdullahi Bello, the state party chairman made this known while addressing newsmen at Lokoja, the state capital.
The party said Achuba was suspended on the ground of anti party activities.
The party said Achuba has engaged in activities that have embarrassed and ridiculed the party.
Bello said Iyano Ward in Ibaji local government of Kogi state where the Deputy comes from, have written numerous petitions against him, prompting his suspension from the party.
The party chairman accused the Deputy Governor of working for the opposition party during the 2019 general elections.
Bello said, report of the disciplinary committees constituted by the Iyano Ward and Ibaji Local Government APC to probe the crises in the area indicted the deputy governor and recommended his suspension, to be followed by expulsion if he did not show any remorse.
Bello noted that the State Working Committee of APC has deliberated on the recommendations of the disciplinary committee of APC Iyano ward and Ibaji Local Government branch of the party.
“As we are all aware, the All Progressive Congress does not condone acts of indiscipline, indiscretion, and anti-party activities from any party member, no matter how highly placed.
“His series of reckless, damaging and unsubstantiated allegations against the government of Kogi State was an action that constitutes a serious violation of Article 21A(ii), (v) and (vii) of the APC Constitution, amounting to acts of disloyalty and embarrassment to the party,” the party chairman said.
The state party chairman disclosed that Achuba suspension will be communicated to the National Working Committee of the party.
The Deputy Governor is having crisis with the governor over the accusations of mismanagement and diversion of state funds.
He also accused the governor of importing guns in the state to cause violence.
The governor reacting to his Deputy accusations, said he is a noise maker.
He urged his supporters not to be distracted by the noise from his Deputy, but stay focused on governing the state.
