Armed bandits have displaced more than 3,500 persons in 17 communities at Rafi and Shiroro Local Government Areas of Niger State.

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) confirmed the attacks happened on Thursday night and led to the loss of five lives.

Mr. Ibrahim Inga, NEMA Director General disclosed that 35 persons were also abducted during the attacks.

Inga said 3,500 people who were displaced by the attack are camped at the Kagara Central Primary and Pandogari Primary Schools.

NEMA said the Niger state government has provided some relief materials such as food items and sleeping mats at the camp.

NEMA boss has since ruled out the possibility of holding elections on the affected communities on Saturday, saying the security agents will not be able to restore normalcy needed for peaceful elections before Saturday.
