Two police escort have been shot and killed by suspected armed robbers on Monday at Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The two policemen were escorting a bullion van to a bank.
The armed robbers made away with huge amount of monies that are yet to be made public.
The attack took place at Ojoto-Timber, Mile Two, Diobu, close to a police station at about 9:00am.
The robbers also made away with police riffles after killing the police officers.
Different witness accounts say driver of the Van sustained gunshot wounds on his legs while other road users sustained different degrees of injury.
Some policemen arrived the scene after the incident and took away the deceased corps.
Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers state police command spokesperson, confirming the incident say, Mr. Usmsn Belel, the state commissioner of police has ordered full investigation into the incident, promising the suspect will be arrested and be prosecuted.
