Mr. Sheikh Ibrahim Elzakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN at last leaves Nigeria for India to be treated of his illness.
The Shiites leader left Abuja with his wife onboard Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ER Flight EK786 on Monday at about 6:29pm.
He was accompanied by two SSS officials and a police doctor.
This Newspaper learned that Mr. Muhammadu Buhari has granted the Shiite leader waiver to travel, ignoring Kaduna state appeal against court order asking that he travels abroad for medical treatment.
The order from Buhari allowing Shiites leader to travel came as a result of security advice given to him based on intelligent gathering.
The intelligent gathering was said have came from National Intelligence Agency, NIA and State Security Service, SSS, who told the president implications of keeping the Shiites leader and stopping him from traveling.
Mr. Femi Falana, lawyer to Zakzaky, dismissed the appeal by Kaduna state government on the ground that it is not based in any known law.
Falana said both the SSS and Nigeria government have agreed to set his client free for medical treatment abroad.
He pointed out that Mr. Nasir el-rufia attempt to appeal court decision and frustrate El-Zakzaky from seeking medical treatment abroad is a display of executive rascality.
The Kaduna state government had days after the court granted the Shiites leader freedom to travel abroad appealed the decision and gave seven conditions that must be fulfilled to allow El-Zakzaky leave Kaduna and travel.
