An American journalist has revealed how Mr. Atiku Abubakar paid the sum of $540,000, which is N194 million equivalent to be allowed entry into the United States.
Mr. Judd Legum, a journalist and former research director of the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign, revealed that Mr. Atiku, the People Democratic Party candidate for the 2019 presidential election paid $540,000 before he was allowed to enter the United States.
An amount he claimed was facilitated through lobbying.
Legum made the disclosure on his article titled “What does a $1.1 million lobbying contract buy in Trump’s Washington?”
Legum disclosed that Atiku and his party, the PDP struck a deal with
Mr. Brian Ballard, a top lobbyist with deep connections to the Trump administration, which made it possible for Atiku to find his way into America.
Atiku, had last week visited the United States after avoiding the country for 12 years over allegations of corrupt deal involving him and a US congress man.
A visit that was widely celebrated by PDP and Atiku supporters as a milestone.
Legum claims that a top government official confirmed that Atiku was barred from entering the United States.
A decision that has been rescinded after Atiku paid huge sum under the cover of lobby.
WEST AFRICA REPORTERS (WAR) could not immediately reach Atiku Atiku’s spokesman, Mr. Paul Ibe, to verify Legum claim.
