Breaking: Catholic priests storm streets in Enugu, protest killings by Fulani herdsmen

Catholic Priests in Enugu on Thursday afternoon, poured on the streets to protest what they say is an excess attack by Fulani herdsmen, targeted at the priest.

The priests were seen protesting on the major streets in Enugu with Placards asking the government to address killings by Fulani herdsmen.

The priests marched to the Enugu state government house and the state police command headquarters to deliver letters stating their anger over the killings of Priests by herdsmen.

Mr. Benjamin Achi, communications director of Enugu Diocese,  told a journalist that Fulani herdsmen are killing priests in Enugu and nothing is been done.

He accuses herdsmen of killing a priest in the state on Thursday.

 “The rate of insecurity has gone out of hand and the government should rise to the occasion, ”he said.

“The Fulani herdsmen have been killing people repeatedly.  The incident yesterday makes it third priest attacked in recent months.”

WEST AFRICA REPORTERS (WAR) on Friday reported how suspected armed men killed Catholic Priest in Enugu.

Mr. Paul Offu, a Priest at Saint James Parish, Ugbawka under the Enugu Catholic Dioceses has been killed by armed men along Ihe-Agbudu Road in Awgu area of Enugu state on Thursday night.

A killing, Achi, has accused Fulani herdsmen of being responsible

Although the incident has been reported to the police, no arrest has been made.
