Abdullahi Ibrahim, a.k.a Halims, a flag-bearer of the All Progressive Congress, APC was arrested Tuesday evening by men of the Nigerian police.
Mr Halims was picked up at his Hotel, Halims Hotels located at Ganaja junction Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State Tuesday evening at about 5 pm, his son, Abdulahi Abubakar Papa told this newspaper, via phone conversation.
He is a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly representing Ankpa 1 constituency and has just won the ruling All Progressives Congress’ (APC) ticket to contest the Federal House of Representatives seat of Akpa, Olamaboro constituency.
“What we were told is that the Kogi state Commissioner of police said he has a warrant of arrest from above to pick my father”, his son said in a telephone interview.
Insider source who pleaded not to be mentioned said, Halim’s arrest is connected with his activities of arming youth to carry out violence act in the state in the name of political thugs.
The Kogi state commission of police could not be immediately reached before going to the press.
