Mr. Shehu Sani, a Nigerian lawmaker has said Muhammadu Buhari Economic team has gone into isolation.
Sani who spoke via his official Twitter handle was reacting to a report that Nigeria’s economy has gone into recession despite Buhari having constituted an economic team.
The National Bureau of Statistics on Saturday announced that the nation recorded a contraction of 3.62 percent in the third quarter of 2020.
The country had earlier recorded a 6.10 percent contraction in the second quarter.
It is the nation’s second recession since 2016, and the worst economic decline in almost four decades.
The Nigerian economy has been battered this year by the coronavirus pandemic, which caused a significant decline in oil revenues and crippled economic activities.
This is even at Buhari had last year, constituted an eight-man economic team chaired by Mr. Doyin Salami, a respected professor of economics at the Lagos Business School, who sits on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s monetary policy team.

Former central bank governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo
Lagos-based economist Bismarck Rewane
Ode Ojowu, a former presidential chief economic adviser
Iyabo Masha, a former IMF country representative for Sierra Leone
The new body replaces the former economic management team (EMT), which was chaired by Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo
