Buhari not aware of Onnoghen, CJN trial–govt official says

Mr.  Babafemi Ojudu, the Special Adviser to Mr.  Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria President on Politics, has said his boss did not order Mr. Walter Onnoghen, the Nigeria Chief Justice to resign.

He made the disclosure on CACOL, a whatsapp group.

The SA has since challenged anybody  who has a proof the president is behind the action to present it.

I challenge anybody to cite the pronouncement, the press statement or quote any public official who made such announcement on behalf of the President,  he added.

Insider source from the presidency who did not want his name mentioned in a telephone conversation told the Nation, a Nigerian National newspaper that the president is not aware of the CJN trial and never gave approval for such trial.

“Let me tell you point blank Mr. President is not aware and was shocked at the development. It is not going to fly,” he told the Nation.

When contacted, Mr. Garba Shehu,  Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said he is not aware of the development.

“I have not been briefed on it,” he said.
