Tracka a non-governmental organization working to ensure quality delivery of government project has taken community sensitization to Unity farmers association in Ajaawa community in Ogo -Oluwa Local Government Areas in Oyo State.
A senior official of the organization told WEST AFRICA REPORTERS (WAR) the organization was in the community to provide and educate the resident on the 2018 budgetary information contained in the Constituency Projects nominated by their lawmakers.
We were there to educate the residents on how to work with Tracka and other stakeholders on how to monitor and hold their Lawmakers accountable for the constituency projects they nominated.
Tracka has carried out empowerment in the various community educating resident on how to track and monitor constituency projects in their community.
WAR has reported how many federal Lawmakers have nominated constituency projects in collaboration with the Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDGs).
Tracka interaction with community residents has shown that many community residents do not know their Lawmakers at the federal level have nominated projects to be executed in their community.
And in the case where they know such projects exist, community residents do not know how much the projects are cost and there is no community consultation for need assessment before the projects are been executed.
Worse still, most of the projects are not executed, and in places they are executed, they are poorly executed with community residents not knowing who to hold accountable for the poorly executed project.
And often, this is as a result of citizens lack the knowledge to confront their lawmakers and demand accountability.
It is the importance of building community resident’s capacity to monitor and track their constituency projects that Tracka has chosen to visit communities training and educating residents.
