Mr. Clifford Ordia, a Nigeria Senator, representing the people of Edo Central Senatorial District has nominated the sum of N322 million as constituency projects for 2019.
Under the deal, Ordia said a whopping sum of N50 million will be expended for the completion of Irrua town hall located at Edo Central, a constituency he represents.
Worse check by WEST AFRICA REPORTERS (WAR), shows the lawmaker may have shortchanged his people.
The construction of a town hall averages between N15 and N20 million, an architect told this newspaper.
In another deal, Ordia said the sum of N100 million will be expended to provide solar street lights in three Local Government Areas in Edo Central.
The lawmaker say N150 million will be expended in women and youth empowerment.
Constituency projects are nominated by the lawmakers for the needs of their constituents and recommend same to the executive during budgeting, this will help to improve the living condition of the people in their constituents.
Nigeria experience has shown this practice is often abused as Lawmakers simply get the money together with the agency been fronted as the implementing partner and disappear.
And in cases where projects are implemented, they are often inflated while other are done using substandard materials and quacks as personnel.
