Corruption: Senator Kashamu N155 million constituency project abandoned

Mr. Buruji Kashamu, N155 million constituency road project has been abandoned despite 70% fund released for implementation.

Kashamu, a Nigerian Senator from Ogun state who represented Ogun East in the 8th National Assembly nominated the project to be implemented in his constituency.

In the year 2017 and 2018, N90 million and  N65 million respectively was allocated for the construction and completion of Odobotu-Udi Scale End to End grading in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The project was awarded to Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) while Way Forward Nigeria Limited is the contractor.

Two years after, despite the release of funds, apart from less than a 300 metres tarred, nothing has been done on the road.

Tracka team who visited the project site, say, apart from 300 metres tarred, the remaining road has been abandoned.

This is a practice in Nigeria that has undermined Nigeria growth and development where government officials connive with contractors, share monies made for project and disappear.

When MAWA Foundation sought the explanation of Kashamu regarding the project abandonment, he declined comment, and tweet made to his official handle not answered.
