Curfew imposed in Bayelsa as crisis escalates

The Bayelsa state police command has imposed curfew in the state following a crisis that broke out after the swearing of Mr. Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate who became governor through the Supreme Court ruling that sacked Lyon, the APC governor-elect.

Shortly after Diri was sworn in, crisis engulfed the state with some youth breaking into government house and looting properties.

Mr. Uche Anozia, the state commissioner of police announced the curfew.

Supporters of Mr. David Lyon, and his running mate, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo poured out on the street, protesting the Supreme Court ruling, describing it as a procured judgment masterminded by the PDP.
