Despite court order, Kano Gov Ganduje gives staff of office to new Emirs

Mr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the Kano state Governor has defied a court order restraining him from recognising the new Emirs and has presented them staff of office.

The governor on Sunday began presentation of staff of office to the new appointed Emirs.

A Kano High Court on Friday gave an interim order directing the governor to halt the appointment of Emirs in the newly created Emirates.

Ganduje on Saturday issued  appointment letters to the new Emirs, an action he denied having any knowledge of court order stopping his action.

The Kano state house of assembly had last week Wednesday passed a bill creating four new Emirate Councils in Kano.

A bill the the governor signed into law on Wednesday, the same day it was passed by the state lawmakers.

The governor has since gone ahead and created the Emirate Councils with  Aminu Ado-Bayero, Bichi; Tafida Ila, Rano; Ibrahim Abdulkadir, Gaya and; Ibrahim Abubakar ll, Karaye as the new Emirs.
