Despite funds release, 39 million Imo healthcare centre abandoned

A 39 million Imo healthcare centre has been abandoned despite funds been released by the Federal Government to implement the project.

In 2017, the sum of N31 million was allocated to the project, and in 2018, another N8 million was allocated to the same project.

The allocation when put together amounts to N39 million was for the
construction and completion of health centre at Ugiri-Ike, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.

Mr. Victor Asams, a Nigeria lawmaker from Imo state, nominated the healthcare as his constituency project.

Asams under the deal, used Primary Healthcare Development Agency as a cover to implement the project, while the contract was awarded to Clinton Enterprise Nigeros Limited.

Worse still, the project has since been abandoned while grasses have taken over the site.

Tracka who was at the project site to monitor implementation, found out that it has since been abandoned.

MAWA Foundation could not immediately reach out to Asams for a response regarding the project.
