Mr. Nasir el-rufai, Kaduna state governor has commenced massive demolition in the state, News Agency of Nigeria, NAN is reporting.
The execerise that is been carried out by the Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Agency, KASUPDA, is to enable road expansion in the State Urban Renewal Programme.
Mr. Omega Jacob, the Director, Urban Planning and Research of the agency, disclosed the exercise to journalists in Kaduna on Thursday.
Jacob said the exercise is to enable the state government provides modern structure that will enhance economic development.
He also pointed out that the exercise will enable room for the dualisation of WAFF road, from NEPA Roundabout to Essence Junction, Alkali road and Isa Kaita road.
Jacob said the owners of the demolished structures will not be compensated, accusing them of refusing to go to a temporary location that were given to them to do their business.
Jacob said the state government gave owners of the shops 21 days notice to pack out.
The official said the 100 shops that will be demolished is the first phase while the government will commence a second phase.
The agency staff were seen issuing quit notice to shop owners.
