Mr. Yahaya Bello, the Kogi state Governor has appealed to his supporters not to shed blood during his campaign, assuring them that God has ordained him to be the state Governor.
The Governor made the statement on Saturday while addressing journalists at Government House Lokoja, the state capital.
Bello who has purchased his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) form for the state November 16 governorship election has since declared that God made him a Governor.
He said God made him a Governor without struggle and there is no needed to fight and shed blood.
”When God made me Governor even when it seemed impossible there wasn’t any need for gunshots, why would I now need bloodshed to return to power when my fate is in the hand of the one who divinely chose me.
” I would protect the sanctity of the ballot box in Kogi same way my father PMB did at the National elections and anyone or persons who attempts to promote violence or ballot snatching at the November election in Kogi would be doing so at the risk of his life.
”It is only the will of God that would prevail in Kogi therefore let no man test the resolve of this administration in her promise to protect lives and properties.”
The Governor has since warned the youth to avoid violence in the coming election assuring that anybody caught engaging in any kind of violence will face the wrath of the law.
He however tasked the security men to ensure adequate security during the state governorship election.
