Muhammadu Buhari has sworn to recover the huge amount of funds spent under the People Democratic Party when re-elected in the February 16 presidential election.
Buhari said the main Opposition PDP wasted $16 billion USD on power and leaving Nigeria in darkness.
An amount the president has vowed to recover when voted back for a second term.
Addressing his party supporters at the All Progressives Congress campaign rally in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital, on Tuesday, Buhari assured that those who diverted money meant for Nigeria development must account for the money.
Last year, the president said Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo has questions to answer over the role he played in the management of power sector funds from 1999 to 2017.
In the same year, Nigeria Lower legislative chamber, the House of Representatives, angry with Obasanjo, said the sum of $16 billion spent on power under his government is a huge lost to the nation.
The president said Obasanjo government claims to have spent 16 billion USD providing power.
“Where is the power? Where is the money? We will follow them and eventually God willing we will get them and we will get our money back”, Buhari said.
Buhrai assured that those who have ruled the country, both state and federal must account how they expended monies given to them.
He also said, in 2025, he campaigned under three cardinal promises, security, economy and fighting corruption.
