A Nigerian soldier who is a survivor of the Sunday Boko Haram attack on the Nigerian army that led to the killing of over 100 soldiers at Metele Borno state has narrated how inadequate weapons led to the insurgents killing huge number of soldiers.
The soldier, who escaped the sect attack together with other soldiers that were injured said the sect attacked them with more superior weapons leading to the record of huge casualties.
The survivor disclosed many dead bodies are still been trapped at the attacked scene.
Boko Haram took advantage of our inadequate weapons and carried out attack that killed many of us, the survivor said.
We were defeated because we had insufficient weapons, he added as he recounted his ordeal.
The attack happened on Sunday at Metele village in Guzamala local government area of Borno state.
Apart from killing over 100 soldiers in the attack, the army commander was also killed.
A military sources said Boko Haram sect also took away arms, ammunition, and military equipment during the attack.
Security analysts described the attack as a big setback to Nigerian fight against Boko Haram.
