Jonathan brought division in Nigeria, not Buhari – Keyamo

Mr. Fetus Keyamo, Nigerian Minister of State for Labour and Employment, has said Goodluck Jonathan; former Nigerian President divided the country along the religious line and not Muhammadu Buhari, the current president.

Keyamo made this known while granting an interview to Saturday Sun. The minister said Jonathan divided Nigeria in 2015 when he campaigned along a religious line using religious sentiment to get a sympathy support.

Keymo pointed out that Jonathan in 2015, moved from one church to another using religion to seek votes.

He however added that at no time did Buhari visited any mosque or church in 2015 to canvass for votes.

Keyamo who said he an unrepentant, strong, and incontestable focused supporter of President Buhari, said his decision to support him with his last blood is because of his integrity.

“We are in a situation in this country now that the way the country has been battered economically, we need somebody with integrity to preside over the affairs of the country and revamp it to glory”.

The minister said he is among few Nigerians who have been arrested and detained for demanding a better Nigeria.

He, however, added that the conviction for a better Nigeria has not left him and that informed his decision to be an unrepentant supporter of Muhammadu Buhari.

“With all sense of modesty, do I look poor, that I need something from any government? I don’t, it is for the good of my country that I am doing what I am doing”.

“The present government is not the best, it is not a divine arrangement that we think that it is God that sent it down from heaven, it has its flaws, it has made some errors in judgment and certain things, but those errors do not amount to armageddon”.

Asked his opinion about people believe that Nigeria is more divided under Buhari than ever, Keyamo said it was Jonathan’s nature of politics that divided Nigerian not Buhari.

“In 2015, you saw that this country was divided by the North/South sentiments and the Christians/ Muslim sentiments. Who made it happen?

“In 2015, who used religion to do a campaign? Certainly not Buhari, he did not go to mosque publicly begging Imams and praying in the Mosque, lying down before Imams to bless him and tell their followers to vote for him”

“Buhari did not do that, so when you say the country is more divided, is it as a result of him? Certainly no. It was because of the dynamism of the politics that brought him into office; the politics of that time under former President Goodluck Jonathan”.
