JUST IN: 17 bags of ballot papers allegedly thumb printed in favor of APC intercepted in Kano

The Kano police command has said they have intercepted 17 bags of thumb printed ballots papers in Kano ahead of the Saturday elections.

Witnesses said the ballots have been thumb printed in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress and were intercepted at the Sabon Gari area of Kano.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that sources say all the ballots have been thumb printed in favor of APC.

The police have taken the intercepted ballots to command headquarters for investigations, this Newspaper has learned.

Mr. Haruna Abdullahi, the Kano police spokesperson said the ballots were for ‘specimen’ and not real ballot papers and denied they were thumb printed.

Abdullahi said police investigation shows they were been taken to Jigawa State where they will be used for voter education.

“Let me categorically state that the ballot papers are not thumb-printed and not real. They are just specimen to enlighten voters in Jigawa State,”

The police spokesperson said the two persons arrested in connection with the ballots have confessed they were been taken to Dutse, Jigawa State capital, to be distributed to the locals for voter education.
