JUST IN: INEC says Elections not holding in Niger north, east as Ballot papers go missing

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said elections in the Niger north and east might not hold as planned on Saturday, saying ballot papers meant for the zones are missing.

Mr. Samuel Egwu, the Niger state resident electoral commissioner disclose the development while addressing newsmen in Minna, the Niger state capital.

Egwu said the development has been reported to INEC headquarters.

Central Bank officials who have the custody of the ballots have gone back to Abuja to see what they can do, he said.
