JUST IN: Police detain Senator Adeleke over alleged certificate forgery

Mr. Ademola Adeleke, a Senator from Osun west senatorial district has been detained by the Nigerian police.

Adeleke was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Osun state  2018 governorship election.

He claims to have won the 2018 Ogun state  Governorship election and has dragged the All Progressives Congress APC to the election tribunal while he has gotten the first Victory in court.

Adeleke campaign organisation on Monday in a statement say he was detained when he honoured police invitation at the police head quarters Abuja.

“We alert the public, diplomatic and democracy community worldwide that the Nigerian Police has arrested and detained Senator Ademola Adeleke on old trumped up charges of certificate and testimonial forgery,” the statement reads.

The campaign organisation say this is coming when the principal and the school authority through an affidavit authenticated Adeleke secondary school certificate.

Adeleke on Monday morning at about 9:am went to the police head quarters Abuja on invitation by the police.

He was later detained by the police who said there was a fresh charges against him over certificate forgery.

He has been taken to Maitama Police station with a plan to charge him in a Magistrate court tomorrow.
