Kano Musician who criticized Gov Ganduje in his music arrested

A Kano musician who criticized Mr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the Kano state Governor using his music has been arrested.

Mr.  Naziru Ahmad, an Ace Hausa musician, was arrested in his house at Darmanawa area of Kano city.

Ahmad is not the only musician who has been arrested for castigating Ganduje. Others who have been arrested and detained are Sunusi Oscar, Sadiq Zazzabi, Mohammed Yusuf AGY.

Sources say the police invaded Ahmad residence on Wednesday.

An arrest the police say was to find out if the musician has a licence to operate a studio.

A source told New Nigerian, an online newspaper that no exhibit was found in the search, he, however, disclosed that a huge number of CDs were confiscated and taken away by the police.

Mr. Abdullahi Haruna, the Kano state police spokesman, confirming the event say the musician was arrested by the order of the court.

We were ordered by the court to arrest him, we will hand him over to the court on Thursday, Haruna said.

Mr. Sanusi Dawakin, the spokesperson of the People Democratic Party (PDP) said Mr. Ganduje, the Kano State Governor ordered the musician arrest.

We have authentic information that the governor ordered for the musician arrest, Dawakin said.

Dawakin alleged that policemen from the Criminal Investigation Department in order of the state Governor through the Kano State Censorship Board arrested Ahmad.
