Nigeria electoral management body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is talking tough in the conduct of Kogi and Beyelsa governorship elections that will be taking place in November 16.
Mr. Festus Okeye, the INEC Commissioner on voter education addressing journalist in Kaduna, say the commission will use kogi and Bayelsa governorship election to correct the mistakes of 2019 general elections.
Mr. Okoye said that INEC will use both state elections to show Nigerians and the global community what will happen in 2023.
The INEC boss pointed out that any political party that fails to conduct its primaries in accordance with section 8 subsection 2 of the Electoral Act, should be rest assured that the commission will not put its party on the ballot.
Okoye warned that political parties this time must put their houses in order and do the right thing.
“We at INEC will go extra mile to do the right thing and we will not take nonsense from anybody”, Omoye said.
