Kogi workers reject 25% salary payment

Kogi stage workers in the local government have rejected 25% salary payment given to them by the state government.

The Joint Action Union of Local Government workers in the state made the total rejection.

The workers union at a meeting on Saturday in  Lokoja the state capital made their decision known.

The Union made up of  Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Medical and health workers union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Nigeria Union of Pensioners  (NUP) and the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) have expressed anger and displeasure over the unfair treatment of the local government workers by the state.

The kogi state government under the leadership of Mr. Yahaya Bello the state Governor paid two months salaries arrears of December 2018 and January 2019.

The Governor paid local government workers 25% and 30% respectively, an action workers union have rejected.

The Union members have since reminded the state Governor that people at the local government suffer the most and need to be better paid.
