Mr. Abdullahi Yada’u, has sent his wife Hafsat Suleiman packing, for supporting Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the February presidential election.
Both of them before the divorce were living at Kanam local government area of Plateau.
Yada’u narrated to the BBC Hausa service on Thursday how his wife Hafsat refused to listen to him and was so adamant in supporting and voting Buhari. Saying that made him very angry and he divorced her.
Yada’u told BBC that both of them threw their support behind Buhari in 2015, but has decided not to support him in 2019 for a reason he said Buhari disappointed him.
I told my wife that she must not vote for Buhari, but she insisted she must vote him, that made me angry, I slapped her and told her to choose the option between Buhari and I, Yada’u said.
After I divorced her, the parents called me for a reconciliation, and I narrated to them what transpired between us. But to my greatest surprise, my wife insisted on voting for Mr Buhari, that’s how I divorced her in the presence of her parents.”
Mr. Ibrahim Suleiman, the wife’s elder brother confirmed the divorce but said they are not interested in having issue with Yada’u.
Suleiman said her sister convinced the husband to vote for Buhari in 2015, and now the man wants her vote for Atiku.
We have taken our sister back and she will not go back to him again, Suleiman, said.
