N200 bribe, Nigeria Police kill a commercial bike man in  Lagos

Policemen in Kilo Surulere area of Lagos last week killed  Mr. Ademola Moshood,  a commercial bike man over his refusal to give N200 bribe.

Moshood was close to his house when he was shot by police officer attached to Soloki Police Station, Surulere.

A witness say the victim was shot on the head by the police when he refused to give N200 bribe.

This was even when they thoroughly beat him, the witness added.

Three policemen, one of them was identified as  AK Patrick who were on patrol committed the alleged crime.

Residents of the area narrated how policemen demand and extort monies from commercial motorcycle riders and motorists on daily basis.

Another witness recounted how the police fled the scene with the deceased’s  bike leaving his corps behind.

“When they saw that he was dead, they took off in their patrol van with the dead man’s motorcycle, while leaving him on the floor in a pool of his blood at the bus stop.”

Mr. Emmanuel, a witness said a policeman Mr. AK, led the police team on patrol that shot Moshood.

Angry residents stormed Soloki police station, Aguda Division, but were shot at and dispersed by policemen at the station.

Police Area Commander, G.I. Eze, appealed to the protesting residents to be calm while castigating the behaviour of police and assured them of proper investigation and prosecution of officers involved.
