New Emirs appointment, protest rocks Kano

Huge number of youth on Saturday in Kano trooped out to protest the appointment of new Emirs.

The protesters stormed Kofar Kudu, Emir’s Palace demanding Mr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the Kano state Governor reversal of new Emirs.

Mr. Ganduje on the 8 day of this month signed into a law that created four emirates councils in Kano state.

The Emirate Councils will have a first class chiefs who will have the same rank with the current Emir of Kano Mr. Sanusi Lamido.

The new Emirate Councils are Rano, Karaye, Gaya and Bichi.

The protesters were seen chanting and displaying placards, asking Gabduje to reverse the creation of new Emirs.
