The Nigeria government is set to launch e – ticket for passengers that use train.
The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, ICRC, presented the e-ticketing system to the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi on Thursday.
Passengers who use the train, particularly the Abuja – Kaduna route complain of the predicament they go through to buy a ticket.
The scarcity of ticket has contributed to racketeering.
Many people who are frustrated about the scarcity of ticket end up patronising racketeers who buy and resell tickets at the Train station.
Some passengers stand from Abuja to Kaduna in what the operators of the Train call standing ticket.
Nigerian government has begun a move to fix the problem by the introduction of e – ticketing system.
The move appears to see Nigeria following the international best practices where passengers use their card or e – ticket to board a Train without queuing for a long period of time to purchase a ticket.
