Nigerian army convoy has on Monday hit and killed a 75-year-old man in Katsina State at the Mani House junction in the state capital, WAR has learned.
Mr. Salisu Ibrahim was distributing wedding invitation cards before he was hit and killed by the military convoy.
Witnesses say the military convoy did not bother to stop after killing Ibrahim, but they rather drove off and left the scene.
The army authority has, however, confirmed the incident, describing it as an accident while promising to sponsor the deceased burial.
“The convoy of the Commander, 17 Brigade NA, Katsina was involved in a road traffic accident today 29 June 2020 during which the death of a road user was recorded,” the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, said in a statement.
“The late motorcycle rider was a 75-year-old man named Alh Salisu Ibrahim of Filin Samji, Katsina. The incident occurred when the vehicles went to refuel and were expected to pick up the Brigade commander later.
