Nigerian police confirm 29 killed, 40 houses burnt in renewed Kajuru Kaduna attack

The Nigerian Police have disclosed and ascertained that 29 persons were killed and 40 houses burnt in a renewed attack that took place at Maro community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday morning.

This is coming after community sources told WEST AFRICA REPORTERS (WAR) in a telephone conversations that gunmen invaded Maro on Tuesday killing many residents and setting many houses ablaze.

Mr. Ahmad Abdur-Rahman, the Kaduna state commissioner of police addressing newsmen in his office, confirmed the figure.

The police commissioner also disclosed that 40 houses were burnt by the attackers.

“Today, in the early hours of the morning, my Divisional Police Officer in Kajuru local government got information that unknown gunmen entered Karmai village in Kajuru and started shooting, the commissioner said.

The police said bandits who attacked the communities opened fire at its men that were sent to quell the attack.

The police said the attackers whom they identified as bandits went from one community to another, killing residents and burning houses.

The commissioner said he went to the scene of the attacks with other security men to see the level of damage done and ascertain the true situation of things.

The police commissioner said they counted 40 houses that were burnt and numerous person injured during the visit.

He added that, apart from the burnt houses, they counted 29 dead bodies including a police officer.
