Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian president has said no president has done better than him in terms of funding and equipping the Nigerian military to combat the current security challenges facing Nigeria and across the Sahel region.
Mr. Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant, Media, and Publicity to the president made this known in a Television programme.
Shehu while speaking at ‘Sunrise Daily’ a Channel Television programme on Friday, said at no time was Nigerian military properly funded like under Buhari administration.
The special assistant pointed out how other West African countries are struggling to battle insecurity and Nigeria cannot be in isolation.
Shehu added that the Buhari administration is determined to bring Boko Haram insurgency and other forms of insecurity to an end.
Adding that at no time have Nigerian soldiers received the kind of support and funding other than Buhari administration.
He, however, confirmed that Buhari was booed at Maiduguri, the Borno state capital when he visited, but said, that was normal for people who are going through frustrations.
The Buhari media man also confirmed his boss accused the locals of providing support for Boko Haram, saying there is no way the insurgents will attack successfully without the local co-operation.
Buhari while speaking to the Borno elders when he visited Maiduguri on Wednesday to console with the state government and families of 30 persons who were killed by Boko Haram at Auno on Sunday, accused the Borno elders of providing support for Boko Haram, saying the insurgents cannot carry out a successful attack without the local support.
