Officer kills wife, shoots self over a domestic quarrel

Mr. Michael Siwalo, a Kenyan police officer on Friday took his own life after killing his wife over a domestic quarrel at their residence in the Panama area of Timau Township in Meru County.

The police officer who comes from Buuri West in Meru County first shot his wife Silvia Ramat before turning the gun to self and pulled the trigger.

A statement from the police authority said the officer’s wife was taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital while she could not make it and passed on.

“Police proceeded to the scene and found the officer’s wife seated against the wall near the main door. She was in a lot of pain, and was bleeding”

“The officers [who rushed to the scene] also entered the couple’s bedroom, where they found police constable Michael Siwalo lying dead with a gunshot wound in the chest.

“The couple’s bedroom was disorganized, suggesting there was a struggle before the shooting.”

The police added that the couple’s dead bodies have been deposited at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
