The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the People Democratic Party (PDP) of plotting to abort the February Nigeria presidential election.
Mr. Lai Mohammed the country Minister of Information, addressing pressmen in Abuja, Nigeria capital on Monday accused the PDP of sending a 10-member delegation to London, Brussels, and Washington DC, to tell them that the APC government has perfected plans to rig the election.
Mohammed also accused PDP of hatching plans for widespread violence and attacks on government institutions including the Nigeria electoral management body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the police.
This, the Minister said is targeted at discrediting the polls.
“Specifically, they are sending a delegation to some Western capitals, including London, Brussels, and Washington DC, to push the concocted line that the Buhari Administration has perfected a plan to rig the polls.
He accused the PDP of pushing and doing everything within their power to reject the polls result knowing Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the APC candidate will be re-elected.
The APC government says it has alerted the nation of the PDP plan to unleash mayhem during the presidential polls.
When PDP found out that we have knowledge of their plan, they dismissed it, they were very apprehensive and surprise to learn that their plot has been leaked to us, Lai added.
As a result of the PDP plot, the National Security Adviser (NSA) met with the 36 state governors and informed them of the plot to scuttle the election.
