Police arrest Mubarak Bala for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad on Facebook

Mr.  Mubarak Bala has been arrested and detained at the Kaduna police command for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad on Facebook.

Bala the president of the Humanist Association of Nigeria was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for blasphemy while he is currently detained at the Gabasawa Police station in Kaduna.

In a petition seen by WAR, sent to the Kano state police commissioner, dated April 27, 2020, written by some group of lawyers accusing Bala of blasphemy, they demanded he is prosecuted and brought to justice.

The group accused Bala of abandoning Islam for Atheism in 2014 and has since then been writing things on his Facebook page that is very provocative and annoying on Islam and its Prophet.

The lawyers pointed out that Bala latest attack on the Islam and Muhammad was on the 25th day of April 2020, where he wrote, “there is no difference between Prophet TB Joshua of Lagos and Prophet Muhammad of Saudi Arabia, our own in Nigerian is even better in that he is not a terrorist”

In the petition signed by S.S Umar, the group asked the police authority to prosecute Bala to show that Nigeria is not a lawless society.
