Shiites have said 12 of its members who were on Ashura procession were killed by the police across the nation.
The group said they were killed in Kaduna, Gombe, Sokoto, Katsina and Bauchi states.
Mr. Ibrahim Musa, Shiites spokesman disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Musa said three of its members were killed in Kaduna while others were killed in other states.
The spokesman of the group also disclosed that three of its members were killed at Bauchi by policemen who attacked them.
He pointed out that the group recorded three deaths in Gombe.
The clash among the group and police officers in Katsina claimed three lives, Musa said.
Apart from the deaths recorded in Katsina, many were injured, the spokesman said.
The group accused the Inspector general of police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu of ordering the police to kill its members across the country for carrying out Ashura procession.
They pointed out that the police are instigating violence on Nigerians who are undertaken their religious rights.
He however thanked members of the group who came out for the procession despite the intimidation from the police.
