Reported killings in Nigeria, mere isolated cases – Buhari

Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigeria president has described the  reported cases of killings in Nigeria as mere isolated cases.

Granting audience to national executives of the Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO) at Aso Rock on Tuesday, the president, said, Banditry and kidnapping happen across the world, pointing out that insecurity is a global challenge.

He added that those criticizing the isolated cases of insecurity in the country are not patriotic.

The former president had on Monday written an open letter to Buhari, warning of the imminent danger if the insecurity in the country is not immediately addressed.

In the letter, the former president said the killings in Nigeria cannot be swept under the carpet.

Obasanjo said the rate at which things were going; Nigeria could experience a situation similar to Rwanda where there was genocide in 1994.

“To be explicit and without equivocation, Mr. President and General, I am deeply worried about four avoidable calamities,” he wrote.

“Violent uprising  beginning  from one section  of the country  and spreading  quickly  to other areas  and leading to the dismemberment  of the  country.”

The president has since dismissed Obasanjo claim, pointing out that insecurity is a global problem.
