Residents of Sokoto communities have fled their homes as gunmen on Wednesday killed over 60 persons.
Bandits were reported to have invaded the community on Wednesday night and launched attacks on Garki, Katuma and Kuzari communities located in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Residents who spoke to Sahara Reporters disclosed that while many were killed those that sustained severe injuries have been admitted at the General Hospital, Sabon Birni.
Local sources say over 60 persons have been killed while many corpses have been deposited at the Sabon Birni General Hospital mortuary.
The attacks on the community have forced many community residents to abandon their homes while others are seeking places to be safe and avoid bandits’ attacks.
Bandits had on Monday killed 18 people in an attack that they carried out at Faji, Lanjegu, Kadaye, Marakawa, and Garin Ahmadu communities.
Community residents say the attackers are herders who are fighting local farmers that are preventing them from grazing cattle on their farmlands.
