Rochas Okorocha in NASS for inauguration, denied accreditation

Mr. Rochas Okorocha, the immediate past Governor of Imo state has been denied accreditation at the National Assembly.

Okorocha was at the National Assembly for an inauguration but was not allowed in for the inauguration.

The former governor contested and won a senatorial seat and had his certificate of return seized the Nigeria electoral management body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC accused Okorocha of forcing its official, the election returning officer to announce him the winner of the election under duress.

An action INEC based its reason for seizing his certificate of return.

Okorocha had gone to court challenging the seizure of his certificate by INEC.

The court has ruled, directing INEC to issue the former governor his certificate of return.
