Mr. Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti state governor has advocated for the scrapping of Nigeria Senate in order to save the country cost of governance.
Fayemi made this suggestion while speaking at the just concluded 25th edition of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group conference.
The governor said the Nigeria cost of governance is too huge and needs to be looked into.
The governor said Nigeria needs s unicameral legislature, suggesting the House of Representative as the only one needed.
Apart from scrapping the Senate, Fayemi pointed out that there is the need to scrap many things in the way Nigeria runs her governance system.
Nigeria at the moment has 109 Senators and 360 House of Representatives.
A practice that is taking huge amount of money from the Nigerian government coffers to run and maintain.
