Two security officers drove a car into some Christians on Easter procession on Sunday night at Alheri junction, Biu road in Gombe State, killing 10 persons.
Angry with the action of the security men, survivors at the procession, ran after the officers, caught them and beat them to death.
The car was driven by an officer of civil defence (NSCDC) while he was carrying a police officer.
Mr. Isaac Kwadang, Chairman of the Gombe State Battalion Brigade of the Boys Brigade, who confirmed the incident, told Premium Times an online newspaper the event happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Kwadang narrated how the officer exchanged greetings with those in procession, drove pass them, and put his car in a reverse gear, rammed into them killing 10 people on the spot.
Mr. Shuaibu Muazu, Gombe State Specialist Hospital Chief Medical Director, who confirmed the incident, said the victims corpse are deposited in the hospital mortuary.
Mr. Godwin Omuko, the state Federal Road Safety Corps, Sector Commander told some journalists they assisted in taken some of the dead bodies to the hospital.
