The Nigeria electoral management body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that thugs have been hired to mar the Kogi state November 16 governorship election.
Mr. Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman, made this know on Friday in Abuja at the Quarterly Consultative Meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).
He said security review shows politicians have hired thugs within and outside Kogi state to disrupt the election.
INEC boss said lessons from the past will make the Commission do all it can to ensure Kogi election is conducted in a transparent manner that will be acceptable to all.
He has charged the Commission personnel and security agents to ensure they discharge their duty on Election Day with all sense of dignity.
